While writing this blogpost, we are in Copenhagen. God provided an apartment, so we can be warm coming winter! It is a blessing, we are so happy with the warmth and love the luxury of a big washing machine, enough warm water, dishwasher and so on. Praise God!
It was quite an experience to come here. We left the Netherland with the knowledge that we are called for a season to Denmark, but we didn’t had a plan. There was at that time no (affordable) apartment or house available in Copenhagen. Also we didn’t found housing for the motorhome. It felt so against the tide, there was no human logic at all in leaving to Denmark for a longer period. We just strongly felt to move. And we did. We hoped that we would see things directly fall in place when we arrived in Denmark, but actually we saw nothing moving. It became colder outside, also inside, and we were at the end of our ability. Also, because we had problems with electricity and water. We needed to trust the Lord that He had a house or apartment for us. Long story short, after a while we found a good place to live for a while and the motorhome stays dry in a big barn. Finally, we can be more effective in this city!
More effective? Yes. Because now we don’t have to put so much work in our household, like filling the water tank, emptying the grey water tank (by hand, with buckets!), changing the toilet every day and so on. We really have more time after work and homeschooling.
We are staying close to Copenhagen. Lord willingly, we hope to stay here longer than only a short period because we feel this is the right place for us to be. God prepared our hearts for Denmark, especially now Copenhagen. We think it will be expanded to the whole of Scandinavia. We just want to be available vessels for the Lord.
Last week, we had the pleasure to meet our Brazilian friends, who joined us on the streets of Copenhagen. They also went to Malmö, Sweden for a day. That is only a short busdrive from Copenhagen over a bridge. They are traveling for 70 days in Europe, to bring the gospel. One of them is a musician, which is really helpful on the streets. So, he plays the guitar and worships the Lord. We call it “fishing” because people will stand still. In that moment we have an opportunity to talk with the people. We tell them about the love of God for them. We want to bring His love, joy, and light into this world.
We had an amazing time. It is so good to be together with people who share the same heart for the lost, who are radical in evangelizing, who want to see people being set free and coming to Jesus. It is intense to let those kind of people go, but we know, we should never try “keeping” people. We need to let them go because God will use them somewhere else. This evangelizing lifestyle is rooted in freedom. We can walk together, and we will let each other go with the blessing of the Lord. This can be a lonely lifestyle as well, because our desire to have people close is not important in the bigger picture. So, we treasure those days we have together as radical rooted in Christ evangelists. We soak it in.
Because we have an apartment for a while, we can have people over for fellowship. We will minister to each other, share testimonies and hearts, pray together, and have joy. It has already been a pleasure to host people. It is a new role the Lord put on us, to be hospitable. We love it. We know the Lord will provide a bigger place to live, so we can actually let people stay for a longer period. Like traveling evangelists or people who just need a place to be for a while.
We are blessed to get to know more and more people in and around Copenhagen. We are connected with different evangelistic groups and churches. We are placed by the Lord in CCC, Copenhagen Community Church, but we can work with different churches when the fundament is the same. We want to be together with the people who have the same goal: bringing Jesus Christ to the people, to the nations, to Copenhagen in this case. Every week there are several outreaches in different parts of the city, and mostly we are part of it. We also want to serve and help where needed.
We can do all this, because “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.
As a family we try to have an empty schedule one day of the week. We choose to do some family activities on these days and take some rest. The kids are happy with the apartment, they have so much more space now to play!
With love,
Draaijer family
